Kano'j

The full title of the association is Jovenes Mayas Kajib’ No’j.
Jovenes Mayas means Mayan youth and the last two words are from the local language, K’i che’. No’j is the great authority of wisdom and Kajib’ has many meanings – all centred around the number four. When the world was created there were four races – Black, White, Yellow and Red which are represented in nature by the four colours of corn – the Mayan people being the people of the corn. This makes perfect sense. Four is also seen as a very secure and stable number. Four legs on tables and chairs etc.
